Engine Floods After Fuel Pump Rebuild When Sqeeze Bulb

I just rebuilt my fuel pump on a 96 75HP Mariner 3 stroke. This is the kit that replaces the rubber check valves with the new clear check valves. The first time I rebuilt with clear check valves the engine was not getting enough fuel. I realized in the instructions it says to drill out hole to .125 when using this kit... so I got another kit, drilled holes and chamfered (barely made the hole bigger at all)... and now when I pump bulb fuel will leak out of carbs and into air box then drip out. If she is running and I squeeze it she floods pretty darn easy.

Someone please... please tell me what I am doing wrong. Should I just order an entirely new fuel pump?

If you're flooding at the carbs, then the float valves in the carbs are stuck open. That's not the fault of the fuel pump. Methinks you need some carb kits too.

Float stuck or trash in carb. Need a carb job.
