Voltage spikes

Looking for help/confirmation.<br />Occassionly I am seeing a voltage spike on both the engine voltage guage and the fish finder of 16V which then returns to the normal 14.1 or .2 reading.<br />It is a merrcury 150HP model # 1150422TD.<br />It seems to me that this indicates a faulty voltage regulator 883072T.<br />If I'm not mistaken there are two of these voltage regulators in this engine. If that's the case what is the proper procedure to see which one is faulty or is it recommended both be replaced ?

Sounds like you might have a loose connection...

Agree with the loose connection. Check the battery cables. If you are using wing nuts, give them a bath (throw them overboard). Replace them with stainless nuts and star washers that you can put a wrench on.
