8 hp merc starting

i have an 8 hp mercury, i bielive it is a 92. it has been sitting is a basement for about 6-8 years what things should i check befor attempting to start? thanks. fishmonger.33

Visually check all hoses for dry rot and replace any which look questionable. Install new spark plugs, gas and oil mix, lower unit lube. Replace water pump impeller before running on water. Good Luck.<br />Bob
