Adding temp sending/gauge to mark 78

I sure would like to install a temperature gauge on my old mark 78. Is it possible to retro one that measures the water temp rather than the surface sensor on the exaust plate?

Most of he early I/6 had a 1/8 pipe plug on the top of the powerhead that you should be able to put a sender in, if not ck on some other powerheads to find the right position and with some care drill yours and tap it

Thanks Bob- I do not remember seeing a pipe plug at the top, but hopefully there's one on mine-sure would make it easier.
