115 merc power trouble

my motor runs at 6000 rpms whem i put it full throttle out of the water and when its in the water it only goes 3000 rpms at abot 7 mph. i changed the prop already so i know its not a spun prop. im almost ready to give up on it! any suggestions are much appreciated.

Never run it on muffs over a idle!! (Not much anyway). Sounds like a fuel problem. Tim

If you are only getting 7MPH at 3000 RPM with a 115HP motor, you have bigger problems than you realize. Either you have 100 pounds of water in your boat, the prop is way over pitched for that boat, or it's slipping. It would be helpful to post a description of the boat (with weight) and the pitch of the prop
