Hello,<br /><br />I am new to boating and have just purchased a boat with a 125hp inline mercury on it.<br /><br />It has a power tilting system for the engine.<br /><br />My question is how do I make it work?<br /><br />I tried to start the engine while in the UP position, but it would not fire. Is this normal?<br /><br />And when I push the "IN" button on the dash I hear a motor noise but it dont move down. Infact none of the tilt buttons actually move the engine, I only hear the mechanics of it.<br /><br />Is there a lock on the engine I need to release first?

Usually theres a latch on the port side that flips down to unlock. You'll need to trim it up about a half inch to move the latch.

If it don't go up and down after that latch is down, It wery well could out of fluid in the pump!<br />Use dextron 2 auto trans fluid. If that doesn't work. Give us a post. Tim
