'04 115 hp ,Over Heat alarm...

Hello Everyone<br />Here is a "Good one"...<br />Today at the Boat ramp it was packed <br />and in my haste I forgot to turn off my Purrs like a kitten Merc 115 4 stroke outboard.<br />I was going from the ramp at 10 mph back to the <br />Campsite,about 3 minutes into it I here The alarm go off, So I stopped ran back and turned it off.<br />But now the water pump isnt pumping ?<br />(The ears Garden Hose thing have always sent water out the output)But not now?<br /><br />"What the Heck did I do"!!!?<br />Can I Do?!<br /><br />Thanks Guys<br />Tony

Thanks Dakk1 ;) <br />I was hoping for a "Hit Reset" or "Fuse" answer!<br />Oh well,Its under warranty till 5/06 <br />No simple Fix ...

Do you mean that you were running the motor "Dry" while towing back to the ramp ?

Yes I was running it dry for 3 minutes before the alarm went off.<br />I parked in the shade and took off the shrould, oil filler and dip stick to shed some heat.<br />The dealer says waterpumps are not covered under warranty I am looking at $180.00 (Thats nothing compared to a new engine)!

Tony, <br /><br />FYI, you're not getting taken on this by your dealer as its an unfortunate mistake to run the engine out of water and ruin the pump. You're right - you have a great engine that will do you well...just chock it up to a $180 mistake.
