This engine is running too hot.This Engine has always run a bit hot.Starts fine Idles fineTail tale ok does not increase with revs (have changed impeller the key is in place)Thermostat checked opens fineThe revs go down below 2000 after short time in forward gear in the water.Power head on idle to hot to touch.There appears to be water circulation.I,ve replaced the CDI I have also synchronized the carbuators.Is there something I am overlooking?

Welcome to iboats. Intennal blockage. You might be able to backflush. Remove the gearcase and set the motor vertical. Remove the thermostat and backflush thru there with a garden hose. You need it to flow freely back out the pipe that the water travels from the water pump. Backflush thru the pee hole too.

I have tried back flushing and there does seem to be some sort of blockage.Shouldn't the water pressure be as high as the pressure going out? Can I use compressed air?Can I try to unblock it using a stiff metal wire in the pipe that leads from the pump?YoursMarc

Back flushing didn't work.I removed the power head and mid section.This exposed a mangled nearly completely blocked waterpipe seal.I guess now it's just a matter of replacing the water pipe seal and fitting everything back.
