Merc 9.8 kicker water pump problems

I put in a new impeller then took a air hose and blew out the line and still not getting much water to pump out??? can anyone help???

Welcome to the forum!<br />Did you get the driveshaft key in place? (flat piece with notch sticking out down the middle)<br />Also try spraying air back through the pisser for a couple seconds while its running, then wait for the water to start again with your hand under the stream, see if there are chunks falling in your hand, if yes repeat a few times.<br />Eric

yes the key is in place,I will try the air hose when it is running <br /><br />thanks

Also is it spraying some exhaust out the pisser? Sometimes the exhaust cover gaskets go bad and there's leakage between the cooling and exhaust systems. If so the gaskets must be replaced because they will allow hot exhaust into your cooling system renering it useless. I won't be able to reply for a while because I'm going to the lake for a few days.<br />Eric
