Make sure you rule out other possibilities as well. Yeah, it probably could use a carb rebuild (not as daunting as it appears), but you could also have fuel pump issues, fuel line issues. You may end up having replaced of rebuild the entire fuel system by the time you are done. 22 years is a long time for a motor to sit, that is hard on the hoses, diaphrams, and whatnot. Those old white Mercs are pretty cool, I had a 1963 85 horse that I loved. I have considered painting my 125 horse white, just because of how cool they look in white. Good luck....
