i have a 1984 merc.200 outboard and about three years ago it started to bog down and not get the torc it use to have. top end is a little slow too, when it is full out it should be hitting about 5 rpms and it only hitting 4 rpms and when i trim it up it hits 5 rpms but it should be hitting 6 rpm. i have had it in to three different places to have it look at and they tell me its running fine....
i have had the timing doown on it and new plugs and wires the carbs checked and a fuel line repaced.. i was reading another note someone had posted and they were having problems with there power back and i was wounding it that might be my problem or may be the reeds.

Check the spark on all the cylinders using a spark gap tester...

We'll walk you though it..... Also check compression...

I know you have sent it to a few places already... But something has to be wrong...

i have been talking to some people and they are telling me that i have a bad coil because when i take off it seems like i have a dead hole, but it only does it once and a while....how would i check that to see if it was the case...if it is the coil then i shouldn't have spark on that hole...is that true???
