Hi,

I have a 98 Mercury outboard 150, 4 stoke EFI that is seized. It had plenty of 4 stroke oil etc. What would be the most likely cause? Thanks in advance. john compton

1998 150hp 4 stroke Mercury??? Please edit as required to get it right, John.

Most likely causes of siezure in 4 strokes are overheat and loss of oil pressure.

You we're right it was a 2 stroke and the cause is apparently that my son allowed the injection oil container to empty. So, now the question is should I consider a rebuild for 5k or skip it and replace it? Worried about a rebuild on s seized motor. Should I be?

How did that happen, Is your son Deff? My opologies if he actually is). There is an audible warning horn that should have raised all kinds of H*ll when the oil ran low. If not then it is as much your fault as his for not making sure this system was opperating properly.
