Re: Mercury 50 HP Cuts out at WOT.

Found two yellow wires from stator and covering was falling off them as if overheated and one terminal was melted to rect.terminal.Removed flywheel and replaced bad yellow wires from stator.also found bottom rect. nut loose and tighened it.Have manual and tested per Rx settings on rect which showed bad.Test on stator was ok except no cont. tested showed about half scale.I will replace the stator and rect.could this have been the no wot problem? Thanks

Have you tested stator output with a DVA meter? How about DC voltage while running? S/B around 14.5. Even if the rectifier is blown, it will run off the battery for a while.

Jerry

I'd be absolutely certain that replacing any parts will solve the problem. Otherwise your heading down a slippery slope. Read "stator or rectifier for charging problems" by Okeyo a few topics up. I can say this because I've been down the slope.

Jerry
