Hi
I have just replaced a faulty Stator on my Mariner 75 1993.
The original Stator had the serial number 398-9710-A28.
The replacement Stator(used) number. 398-8320-75-A4.
My question is whether I have replaced the faulty Stator with the correct part. I am not sure which one is 16amp or 9amp.

I have run the engine and so far it is going ok.

9 or 16 amp won't likely matter unless you're running a bunch of electronics plus trying to charge the battery. I had the same problem a while back - Mercury played with p/n's and some color codes and I wasn't sure what stator I got. A load test told me I got the 16amp that I wanted.

I have a parts list I got from a merc tech when I bought a part. It has all the 8320-75-A's except A4. Thats way it always seems to be! Anyway all the other 8320-75-A's are red stator conversions from 9 to 16 amp. So, chances are if you have a red stator, it's most likely 16 amp.

Jerry
