I am going to change the lubricant in my 2003 Mariner 50 2 stroke. I have been sold some Lubrimatic hypoid 90 lubricant; the shop assistant was not sure whether this is the recommended lubricant for this engine. Could anybody advise me whether it would be OK to use this lubricant or, if it is the wrong type, let me know which I should use.

Re: Gear Case Lubrication for Mariner 50 2 stroke
Welcome to iboats. The recommended lube is Premium Blend or Hi Perf available thru a Merc dealer, but just about any marine grade gearlube made for non-electric shift gearcases should be fine for a 50. The more ponies, the more critical it is.
