Attention Any owners of new Merc/Mariner ELPTO. I own a 50 Mariner, done only 5 hrs. In Australia, they are experiencing a leak in the oil injection plastic bottle (About 20-30ml per day). The mechanic said that it is a moulding problem and Merc have rectified by increasing the thickness. They are not recalling here, but mine will be replaced under warranty. I'm not canning Merc, just letting folks know before your warranty expires.Anyone there experiencing this fault ??

Haven't seen it on a 50 HP,but last season had two 150 HP with bad tanks.I think Merc had trouble with the supplier,because the backorder was lengthy.One had bad threads on the bleed cap,other one had leak where oil sensor mounted,in the top.DHP

This leak comes from the bottom, where the (low oil)pickup is located. There is a self tapping screw there,which drips oil.Ref herewww.fishnet.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=45621&f=8
