I have a 1984 6 Cyl 115 HP was wondering how much power increase can I get by switching carbs. Can I improve power to 135HP? Is the differences just carburetion? Need More Power!!!! Anyone?

You're not going to get much more out of that motor. It takes more than carbs to effect any significant HP increase, and typically all you'll get is a peaky motor which performs poorly at anything but full tilt.

If you need more punch you're likely going to have to go for a V6. The inline is a great motor but you can only do so much with 99 C.I.

BTW your motor is rated at the prop and so is at least equivalent to an older 135 HP.

HTH..............ed

Agreed........ the '84 115 is pretty much all it can be. Make sure it's tuned and propped correctly. It outta push an 18' runnabout over 40mph easily.

-W

Re: 1984 115hp Inline 6 Carbs

Thanks for the info Guys. I have a 1984 17 ft Astroglass Fish/Ski. At WOT it runs 5300-5400 RPM and 53 MPH with a 20 Pitch Stainless. Yes that is plenty fast but it's not only top speed I'm looking for, I would like to get a much better holeshot. I have a 17 Pitch Alum prop, However it peaks much to quick goes to nearly 6000 RPM at approx 43 MPH.
