I have a 1989 Mercury 115Hp that wont stay on and excessive oil is coming out of the exhaust. Any suggestions as to where to begin looking for a problem?
Look inside the carb throat while running for excess fuel. Sounds like flooding. Fuel will flash burn but not hot enough to burn oil. Probably time to split the carbs open.
There is alot of fuel going through the carbs and I opened all of them. They looked good inside. I will be checking the fuel pump diaphragm this week. I will let you know what I find. Thanks.
