add a charging system to old 4hp mariner

I have a 1983 (I think) Mariner outboard on a small sailboat. I would like to have it charge the battery. What do I need to buy/add? If someone can help I can get the Model/serial numbers.

I did a little more research and thought I'd post what I found in case somebody else can use the information.

Mercury Parts Express lists the parts to do the job under "Accessories" for this engine.

Here are the numbers:

16838A 4 RECTIFIER KIT

16837A 2 ALTERNATOR KIT
