1979 Mercury 40HP - Wont Fire after pressure washing...
Hey all,My 1979 Mercury 40HP was running just fine before i Pressure washed the engine.Last night I pressure washed the engine to clean it, as it was covered in grease/oil...I closed the Choke to prevent water getting into the carb. Now that i've pressure washed it, it won't so much as fire. I don't know if water still got into the engine somehow, or what, but for it not to even fire now, doesn't make since.Anything anyone can suggest to help is apperciated.Thanks,-TheChad

Yeah, I will check it for spark, but i need a 2nd person, obviously i can't turn the key and see the spark at the same time... So i'm waiting for my wife to come home from work..What do you mean by "Try a little fuel mix in the carb throat"?Are you saying to pour a little fuel into the front of the carb?I sprayed carb cleaner in to see if that would help, and nothing...Thanks,-TheChad

I don't know for sure, But it doesn't look like there is any spark...I was standing about 4 feet away though..I took the top plug out and had it resting against the motor framing, I turned the engine over, and didn't see any spark...-TheChad

It definitly doesn't have spark. What should i do to figure out why I have no spark? Is there someplace i should start, or something i can test?Thanks.-TheChad
