97 Mariner Fuel Pump Plug If Not Using Oil Injection?

I have a 97 3cyl 75hp Mariner that is not using the oil injection (putting oil in the gas) and I was wondering if I need to plug the fuel pump?

Reason I ask is because the manual shows a "plug" for the "non oil injected" version of my engine. I've had acceleration problems (slow to get going) and replaced everything in the fuel system and I still have the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated

You don't want to plug the fuel pump, you want to plug the oil pump after it is removed... It is recommended! But I don't think that is the cause of your acceleration problem... It's a cheap part...

Have you disabled the pump?

If you are talking about the oil intake on the fuel pump, yes also...
