Default 1984 Mariner 90 (short shaft I think) info

I have a freind that is thinking about get this motor. The price sounds real good. I do not have the model number but can proabbly get if needed. We were just wondering how these motors were and if there were any know issues or things to look for. Any info would be great. This is my fist post in this forum as I have an OMC (please don't look down on me for that).

Check the compression!!! The oil injection system is notorious for failing. Many people with 80's mercs opt for a premix.-andy

Thanks, I figured the usual stuff should be checked (compression, lower unit oil, wiring, etc.)
