impeller replacement1988 80 hp

i have an 88 80 hp 3 cly merc, i have replaced many in my v-4 johnsons , i have a book (manual) is it hard to do or is it better to take to local merc dealer...also do they sell a whole kit like a johnson or just impeller, johnson sold both. the boat runs great just getting it ready for season<br />thaks bob in philly

If you have changed them on a rude and have a manual for the mercury it should be a peice of cake--Bob

Bobby,<br /><br />If you've done the job on a johnrude V4, you'll be able to do it on the Merc with your eyes shut! Only 'trick' is to make sure the gearbox is in the same gear as the control box when you slip it back in.<br /><br />Merc do a kit now that includes the impeller, base plate and all the gaskets, and it's cheaper than the impeller on its own.
