I recently purchased a lightly used 5hp mercury. It runs well with choke on half way, when choke is off engine will run at higher rpms but runs better with choke partially on. It will run at above normal rpms but it is like you turn off the switch when it is slighly slower. I have cleaned carb twice. Any ideas? Could a new spark plug have anything to do with this? Thank You for ideas. Is there a high speed jet and a low speed jet like larger motors? Also any idea why there is a rubber plug next to the main fuel pickup in the bowl?
