I have a '73 Merc 850 and have been working on it to get it runnung (new rotor, trigger, rebuild carbs/rebuild fuel pumps) and finally got it to breath life! But when I was repairing/replacing things some adjustments were obviously knocked out of whack. First off how should the neutral/warm-up lever be positioned for normal operation, full aft?, and second how do I know how long to set the link between the vertical arm, and the distributor houseing, I believe it is the throttle control, but I'm not positive.

David, The warm-up lever should be up for cold starts, and fully down for operation. As the the rest of the "link and Synch" you have asked about, is is a bit hard to explain, therefore, I recommend you get a manual. Libraries sometimes have service manuals to check out.
