Ticking/knocking sound 2000 model 25 hp mariner

Hi guys, I've got a 2000 model 25 hp mariner that runs great, but makes a ticking/knocking noise. I think its coming from the pull starter area, but not sure, any suggestions?

Take the started off is probably a starter pawl catching the flywheel, it happens alot on racing engines and can break the starter housing---Bob
