Merc 150 hp Black Max 1993, Water squirting from
I am not a mechanic. I do minor jobs like changing spark plugs and winterizing. My 1993 Mercury 150 hp, 2 stoke, Black Max is squirting water from the side of the botttom part of the motor. I have dual counter-rotating engines - only the starboard engine is doing this. I was getting it ready to put back in and started it up with the muffs hooked up. I've done this dozens of time over the years with different outboards. The engine is "peeing" water from the engine compartment which is healthy, showing that water is circulating through the engine. Water is coming out from the prop and is coming out of two holes onto the plate on the top of the lower unit. Where the water is squirting out (and I don't believe it should) is out of the side plate (I think it is plastic) which is on the forward/front side. It looks like this 4"x5" plate can be removed by taking screws off from the front of the motor. I know my mechanic replaced impellors in both motors last winter before I put the boat away - could this have anything to do with it?

William
