This is my first boat and I have many questions however I will try to only ask a couple at the time. I have read many postings about disconnecting the oil injection. Is this really necessary? Also, when I disconnect my gas line to run the gas out of my carburators the gas that comes out of the line is blue, is this normal?

Re: 75 Mercury 1998

hello
with proper maint the oiling system on that motor works very well. periodically you have to clean the oil tank, you have to inspect the lines. the clear vynil things get hard and crack. but overall the system works well.
the reason the gas is blue is because the oilinjected at the fuel pump is mixed and you must be using blue oil. if you dont like blue I think evinrude oil is red :) :) .
but yes unfortunately the oiling system requires maint just like the cooling system, the fuel system the gearcase, trim and steering systems :)

Thanks you, rodbolt. I will check the lines to make sure they are still flexible. Thanks again.
