Anyone ever build their own boat console? I'm in the process of converting my 14'aluminum and 2001 30hp merc with electric start from tiller to steering. I know that outboards with electric start are originally intended for steering and mercury should make steering, throttle and shift connection kits. The boat already has built up carpeted floors, live-well, storage compartments and swivel seats. What I don't have is the side console. Thinking of making one out of wood and then coating it with metallic paint so it blends in nicely with the boat..

mercury makes what you need, but because it is not cheap,I would go a step further in your console investment.

fabricate what you need out of cardboard, and when it is right, have a sheet metal shop do it up in aluminum.

DHP
