Hi can anyone tell me why it will not change gear i have got the leg off & the selection rod just spins. How do I go about getting the gear box apart? Thanks James
are you asking about a washing machine or what ever ? a little nomenclature would help get the right answer, like what your item is,make,mod.yr, and sn # would help get an answer.not being a wise *****,just my way of explaining whats needed .
I used to own a Jap 55 hp Mariner.Gear change selcector shaft in attached to a cam inside the gear box. This cam pushed onto the drive shaft and engages the dog clutch for forward and reverse. I'd say the cam lever is either broken or slip out of position due to moving too far. You will have to pull the gear box apart to fix it I'm afraid
