I have a 2001 Merc 25. When I run long ditances 15 miles+ and then bring it too and idle the engine sound hot and the discharge feels hot. There is definitly a lot more sqeaking of the bearings. Rebuilt the water pump but no change. Is this normal?

Re: Sounds Hot

The squeaking bearings concern me. Getting hot after a hard run doesn't so much. It's called Heat-Soak. The motor is producing a lot of heat under load and it saturates all of the parts. Bring the speed down and the cooling water isn't flowing as fast. So it has a harder time carrying away the heat that has built up. But it should catch up in a few minutes and run reasonably cool. You might want to check the thermostat, but that motor isn't old enough to be scaled-up very much yet (depending on how much it's used of course).
