Default Evinrude fuel tank OK on Mercury?

If I change the motor end of the hose connection is it ok to use another mfg fuel tank? another question is it ok to direct connect the hose to the tank to permanently mount the hose?

I don't see any reason that you couldn't do that, Bchappy. Permanently attaching the hose to the tank might be difficult.I think I would be more inclined to try to swap the 'Rude tank for a Merc tank at a swap meet or something.Good luck.

Since I have been using a WalMart plastic tank for years, I can attest that the motor hasn't noticed the lack of a Merc decal. And my hose is permanently connected to the tank. However, there are two very different types of tanks--pressurized and vented. Among vented tanks, it seems to me it should make no difference. Among pressurized tanks (older style), which use the dual hoses, I can't say, having no experience with these. I believe the pressurized tanks were mostly from the 1950's and earlier.
