Steering Friction Screw on Mariner 5hp

Hi

I tightened up the steering friction screw on my 1999 Mariner 5hp. This was to keep it straight when tilted up out of use. My buddy moved the engine from side to side and now the motor steering is loose. Tightening the screw has no effect.

Is it easy to fix this?

If it is I can tackle it at the marina. I don't want to miss any boat action with my kicker in bits in my garage.
