I looked at an old ranger bass boat this week that has a 1976 Javlin 100 HP motor. Does anyone know much about this motor. I have a Clymers manual that mentions a 100 HP motor in the late 70's. Is this what they are refering to or is it some type of special motor? What makes it different from an 85 or 115 HP V-4? It does not appear to be displacement. Is it carberation, exhaust, lower unit or other?

Its a typical V4 crossflow. It should have the early 115 type port timing. Nothing special.

It 1976 the Javelin was an 85 with Tilt and trim and a near cowl. It had the same power as a stock 85. In I think 1979 Johnson came out with an 100 horse V-4 and had a special version called a Javelin. It has a neat cowl but no extra performance. Just a fancy 100 horse.
