Default Tilt/Trim leak on Mercury 60

Just bought a boat that has been sitting for 3 years. The trim goes up and down fine out of the water but if you trim up while driving the motor goes right back down. It does not go all the way down but almost all the way. If you are at any speed it will not go up at all. The motor is a 1997 60 HP Mercury OB. What do you guys think it is?Is there a rebuilt kit I can buy for the pump?Where can I buy parts? Thanks! Guy

Ck the o rings on the manual release valve, you will have to remove the E/ring to remove the valve from the pump

Ok I see the e-clip and I am going to pull it out to check to O-rings. What kind of fluid do I use to refill the unit? The old fluid is red looks like transmission fluid. Thanks Guy

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, there are a few things that could be still causeing the problem, a bad o-ring on any one of the 3 cyl. there is a ck inside the starboard trim cyl. that could be bad, but If I had to shoot a guess I would say there is dirt in the release valves on the tilt cyl. any of these repaire you are going to need a manual. If you can't come by a mercury I think SELOC has a good tilt/trim section in there manual---Bob
