Default Mariner 9.9E fuel pump

Hi,I've got around a 1985 9.9E Mariner fuel pump problem. I replaced the inside diaphraghm and gasket. With the pump off the carb and the fuel line attached I try to pump gas through it. It has to be forced to go from the fuel line side to the other half of the pump. The outside diaphragm is stiff, but I don't know if that is what is blocking the flow or the metal tab.Do you think it is the diaphragm or the tab? The metal tab doesn't look damaged. Any other possiblities? The gas isn't getting to the carburator. Thanks.

It sounds like the diaphram is not in right and blocking the fuel flow

the metal tabs are flow check valves, if they are not there it wont pump.

The D.... is crinkeled sit might be blocking it. The metal tab is attached but seems tight, even though it isn't damaged. I'll take out the D... and see if the fuel goes through then. Thanks.

I put the other diaphram in and it worked fine. Problem solved. Expensive, but solved.
