Default Overheat Switch Merc/Mariner 40HP 4 Cyl

Can anyone tell me the difference between a Mariner 40HP 4 cyl and a Mariner 45HP 4 cyl ? I need a new overheat switch for the 40HP but have only been able to find a replacement for the 45HP (not thru dealers). The dealers won't or can't tell me if the two are compatible. I'm hoping someone on this forum might be a little more informed. Anyone ?

I believe the sensors are the same, but the one on the 45 might have a ring terminal where the 40's would have a bullet connector. As long as they both screw into the same place, they should have the same heat rating.
