This is a 1983 model with the kill switch located on the end of the tiller. It is a push button that no longer seems to work. Any help regarding what the problem could be or how to repair. I am assuming you have to get at the switch by taking the tiller arm apart somehow....thanks dabow

It sounds like a short. No key switch? Is this how you shut down? I like to take the motor down gradually. At the dock, Ill let her idle for a few minutes and observe everything like her first start of the day. When you depress this button, do you feel the button under the plastic outside?<br />RE

No key switch. I just idle down and than depress the button. Can not feel the button under the plastic but can't recall that I ever could. Now I have to choke it to get it to stop.
