out here in the Indian Ocean we are very badly served for mercury dealers!<br /><br />I have a pair of 2001/2 50HP Mercurys, about 200 hrs each with a few issues and it looks like I am going to have to solve them myself.<br /><br />1st. One engine seems to rev much more freely than the other, to the extent that it is impossible to get the controls to synch together. The left hand will be half way forward while the right is full down for the same revs.<br /><br />2nd. One gearbox seems very shaky. We get a grinding noise when changing in and out of reverse and a certain amount of rattle and general noise.<br /><br />3rd. It's impossible to get replacement oil tanks here and one float switch has gone. Also - is it just me or does everyone need pliers to get the oil fill caps off?<br /><br />4th - Does anyone have experience of replacing the standard Mercury twin remotes on these engines and what did you replace them with?
