ok a couple of you smart guys advised me correctly on the 1985 powerhead swap onto my 1979 midsection and lower unit. Thanks, now I am trying to help someone else out.<br /><br />He has a 1971 I6, I have the 1979 (distributor) I6, will the 1979 I6 bolt right up in the place of his 1971 I6? His powerhead has froze up or is having significant problems. the 1979 has balanced compression in the 140lb area and runs strong. I opted to go to the newer 1985 for multiple reasons, not related to this question.<br /><br />PLEASE ADVISE if this swap will work for the 1979 powerhead to replace the 1971 powerhead.<br /><br />Thank you kindly!
