Having problems shifting into neutral to start motor. By moving trottle forward and back several times it sometimes starts. Local shop said it could be the trottle switch or the linkage. Anyone that has any ideas would be appreciated

When the throttle is in the neutral position can you confirm the engine is in fact out of gear,ie can you spin the prop in either direction. If you cannot then the linkage is at fault, conversely if you can then it may be the interlock switch.
