Where do you mount temp gauge?

I bought a temp gauge for my 91 200xri. There doesn't seem to be a threaded hole in the head to install per the installation pictures. It has a hole for the sensor already in it, but they are not threaded or even go through to a water port. I appears to just pick up the temp from sitting on the head. Any suggestions?

Re: Where do you mount temp gauge?

My '96 200hp Offshore has a temp sensor(switch to ground) in one head and a temp sender(variable resistance) in the other head. You may have to get a setup for the temp sender that mounts on a Z bracket with the tip of the sender touching the head. Be sure to match sender to gauge.

:)
