Timing 1978 Mercury Mariner 175

I have replaced the stator on this motor and can only get 4200 rpms and it should be 5500. How do I line up the flywheel Is there marks, when reinstalling it and what is the timing procedure.I know the settings.

Last could this be another problem

There seems to be two setting one ATDC and one BTDC

If you undid the eight bolts instead of buying a puller - you need to put #1 at TDC and then make sure the flywheel is bolted accordingly.

The timing and sync procedurs in any of the major manuals take it from there fine. I did one yesterday.

Missing PRM's could mean it's overpropped also.
