I am new to this and have just purchased 175 bass tracker with 9.9 merc took out sat and ran great but only hit 2700rpm does this sound right for 2 stroke will provide serial number shortly thanks
No. You should be turning at least 5000 RPM's with that motor. Check for spark on cylinders. Souns like one is not firing. Also, if spark is good, replace plugs and see what happens. Run a compression test, too.
I will check plugs tommorrow I have manual coming
the moter is 1998 tracker merc serial number OT646001 9.9 thanks for info

roscoe boat rated for up to 75hp

checked plugs and compression plugs were just put in and compression ok I talked to the dealer where I bought boat he said problem sounds like charging coil he is going to look at boat this weekend and fix for free I think I found a good dealer boat was bought as is but he will repair anyway will update with what he finds
9.9hp on a boat rated max at 75hp seems to be a little underpowered. Probly be a little hard to get on plane. Check prop for pitch maybe too much. Very small motor for boat esp. with any sort of load.
