facing the back of the engine I undid the big nut on the starbord side that holds the cable outer liner to the engine. when I turn the steering wheel the outer plastic cable liner and nut moves away from the engine fine it is the part that goes into the steering tube that is frozen, I understand how to clean out the tube if I can get it apart but I cant see how to get the cable out of the tube. What holds the cable to the steering tube? something on the port side of the motor has to connect the cable to the tube or else when you tried to turn the boat to the port side it wouldnt do anything.

The port end of the cable has the steering linkage attached to it. You might have to remove the bolt and nut that attaches the steering linkage to the engine before you can take it loose from the cable.

c/6
Hooty
