Hi All;I have a 1990 30 hp Mariner (Yamaha) model 30M code 689s ser # 230431.The motor is jumping out of reverse (i can hold it in with slight pressure on the lever)secondly while running in neutral i can hear a slight grinding noise, it works fine in forward......... is there an adjustment i can make?Also i can't figure out how the motor locks down in reverse, it wants to "jump-up" when i add power.Are there any "on line" parts or service manuals for this engine?

Your shift shaft is probably not adjusted correctly and the problems are likely interconnected.You will need a manual.
