Default '92 75 hp Mariner - cutting out in mid range only, fouling plugs WOT.

I've had this motor for a few hundred hours or so and I have not changed the way I run it.I noticed a sluggish / cutting in/out (like a miss) when accellerating or trying to hold at less than WOT (between 1500 and 3500 RPMs). It starts, idles and runs wide open like a charm.I took out the plugs and found them to be verry carbon/oily, so I replaced with new plugs, used fresh gas with 2+4 stabilizer, but then after about 2hours of WOT (or close - no idleing) I removed the new plugs and same thing (black and sticky). The thermostate seems to be working and I tried a completely separate fuel system (remote tank) and same problem.. any suggestions??

Could be time to rebuild the carburetors. It sounds like they are dumping too much fuel into the engine.

Hi 99tango: Do you think rebuilding the carb will fix my problem too? I have a 1993 Mariner 50hp. The motor would run at full throttle for awhile. sometimes 5mins, sometimes 30mins. then bogs down. When that happens. I would put it to idle and slowly throttle it. The motor would slowly move up to 1500 - 2000rpm, then start to bogg down again, but ocassionally it would recover and runs fine for awhile then boggs again. I removed the plugs and found them kinda wet with blackish on the tip. I replace them with new ones. Then it would run fine for a bit(1mins+). I've rebuilt the fuel pump, new gas tank and cable gas/oil mix ratio 1:50(quick silver prem). Could it be the carb, stator, plug wires? I have the manual, but no help. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
