I HAVE A 1976 MERC 115HP, Yesterday while runnign on the hose in my bakcyard I noticed that after a while at above idle rpms (2000) at all exhuats ports ( prop, & relief) there was a mud like substance comming out, and lots of it. It's grayish in color, and has a mud like texture.. any idea as to what is going on?

Re: MUDDY EXHAUST

I had the same problem last week w/ my Merc. after running at trolling speed all day on a no wake lake. I cleaned the sparkplugs and was able to get it to another lake and run it wide open. No more sludge coming out. Need to make sure all cylinders are firing. Good luck.

a decarb will help clean out the exhaust, but<br />if she's running good, I wouldn't be worried.
