Took the boat out today and find it wont go into forware or reverse. Checked the linkage and it seem ok. The shaft coming from the top to the bottom is turning when you move the throtle from N to F or R but it wont engage. When I put the motor all the way up and try it it will engage into Forward but it make a clicking sound (I don't seem to remember this sound before.) Where do I start. I don't want to drop a bunch of money on a repair if I can do it myself. Any help would be much appreciated.

UPDATE! I was looking at the prop and pulled on it and the whole thing, gears and all just came out. Theres a plastic nut that looks to hold the in place that is stripped. Can this be the problem?
