1986 45hp Mariner doesn't charge battery

How do I figure out exactly what the problem is? Thanks

Hey there Perdido...you seem lost.

Start by measuring the voltage across your battery with the motor running. If you see someting in the neighborhood of about 13.5 to 14.0 Volts, the charging system is working. That's the first thing to determine.
