Given a late 80's vintage boat rated at 85hp (after the switch to Prop HP)
Would I be able to drop a early 70's vintage 100 on it under the argument
that the 100's went 88hp when they switched from crank rated HP to prop rated?

Mike

Ask your insurance agent, MrC3.

Your boat would probably handle it, but why bother? Later 85hp engines are faster than old 100s because of the improved lower ends with so much less drag.

My BW 16 was faster with a '81 Johnson 70 than it was with the '66 100 it replaced.

Good luck. :)
